picture of Lu Lyons     I became interested in healing from the energetic direction as a child.  I would often touch a person that was feeling pain and it would diminish and sometimes leave completely.  As an adult I faced some serious health issues that coincided with times in my life when I was stressed, under relationship or parenting pressures and even angry.  I didn't make the immediate connection but was amazed and intrigued once I did.

Raising my sons kept me occupied for many years before I was able to study what I felt I knew about our spiritual and emotional connection to our physical health and our ability to heal and assist others to heal by channeling energy.  I had studied herbs in small doses throughout my life and used many of them heavily in my cooking and in some health issues but nothing very serious.

My studies began first with Theta (much of this work is done with belief structures), followed by Reiki (in short it is a healing modality in which healing energy is channeled) and I knew that I was where I belonged!

I worked with these healing modalities until I hit a signpost (not a road-block) in my life.  Several years ago I began having severe swelling in my legs which was ultimately determined to be improper lymphatic drainage.  This problem came on suddenly and by the end of each day I was barely able to walk.  Medication was prescribed that had no positive effect and managed to make me feel terrible in other ways.  Next I was sent to a specialist who prescribed some compression stockings (not very fashionable or comfortable in summer heat).  I recalled reading somewhere that there were ways to "clean up" your lymphatic system so that it could function better.  I asked the specialist about this and he confirmed that it was possible but had no idea how to accomplish it.  A few days later I was introduced to an Herbalist who created a combination for my body type that supports the cleansing of the lymphatic system and assists in stimulating the flow of the fluid as well.  Within 3 days the swelling had stopped and I felt great for the first time in months!  This was my catalyst into the world of herbs.  I began my herbal studies a few months later and became a Professional Certified Herbalist.  I continue to enhance my knowledge in this direction as new information seems to be revealed every day.  To compliment all of my studies and truly individualize what my clients' needs, I became a Kinesionics Practitioner.  This is a form of specialized kinesiology in which hundreds of points on the body (similar to acupressure points) are used to access the "body wisdom" or wisdom of the "whole self".  This type of testing connects the body, mind and spirit to determine what your whole self is dealing with, and in what order.  From there we test what remedies and/or therapies are most supportive to the body in these processes, in what dose and for how long.  Combined with the philosophies and herbal energetics of both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda the recommended programs are then very individualized.  We are each so very unique and that is so often set aside when remedies are chosen.

Massage has been the most recent addition to my healing practice.  This is another step to assist the body in the healing process.  I often incorporate other healing modalities with massage, with the client's permission.

So often I am nudged to study yet another healing method and am excited about what is around the next curve in my road of learning.
